Vitrispan® Vitreous Enamel Systems and Applications
The most important characteristic of vitreous enamel is its resistance to corrosion. Steel is used in almost every industry and a huge array of products; Vitreous enamel is a very economic way of protecting steel and other chemically vulnerable materials from corrosion. It can also produce very smooth, glossy finishes in a wide array of colours. These colours will not fade on exposure to UV light, as paint will. Being a fired ceramic vitreous enamel is also highly heat-resistant. This allows it to be used in high-temperature applications where an organic anti-corrosion coating or galvanization may be impractical or even dangerous.
Porcelain enamel also sees frequent employment due to its other properties; examples are its abrasion resistance, where it generally performs better than many metals. Its resistance to organic solvents, where it is entirely impervious. It also has high resistance to thermal shock, where it can resist rapid cooling from temperatures 500°C and higher.

Vitreous enamel is ideal for external cladding applications. The vitrified coat forms a molecular bond with the steel that is completely weather proof and UV stable. Unlike powder paint coated systems it will not fade or deteriorate even in the brightest sunlight. With the additional application of nano technology coatings the vitreous enamel surface can also be self-cleaning.

Vitrified steel panels are also highly resistant to atmospheric agents (UV, rain, heat, frost, etc.) Panels are completely stable between temperature ranges from -60 °c to +450°c and give long lasting protection against corrosion. Energy savings for illumination systems can also be achieved due to photometric properties and luminosity of the vitreous enamel surface.
Due to their bacteriological and humidity resistant characteristics, Vitrispan vitrified enamel panels are ideal for the cladding of hospitals, aseptic rooms and sanitary facilities. The hard non porous surface prevents the growth of organisms and accumulation of dust from static electricity. Optimal for the wall linings, laboratory tables and specific hygienic furnishings.
